Safe and Sound

After 24 hours of traveling/sitting in the airport, 5 diet cokes, 6 crosswords 15 sudokus completed (that’s right mer mer) and 4 word searches, I have arrived in Florence! But I will backtrack because I’m sure you want to know exactly what I did for the last 2 days. Sunday was my “Bon Voyage” dinner with my family. My sweet mommy made me chicken, twice-baked potatoes, green beans and bought me a cheesecake from Central market (fave). Then my parents and I began the packing adventure. It is way harder than I thought it would be to fit 3 months of belongings in a suitcase. My mom, being a master packer, made it work. I ended up with 2 checked bags, my backpack, and my purse all weighing about 90 lbs. Luckily my bags strap together. Since it was quite a task to drag these bags and will be quite a spectacle, my mom took a picture of me in the airport.

I ended my last night in America video chatting with 2 of my besties (SK get oovoo and SS you should be home more) about my adventures and their adventures (Samantha). So so fun, miss y'all already.

After a couple tears (all from me of course) I was through security, on the plane, and on my way to Charlotte. Once in Charlotte, I only had about 30 minutes to find my next gate (thank you moving sidewalks), and say goodbye to my fam/friends. As you can imagine I was a mess. Once I had to turn off my phone and was on my way to Germany, I was fine. It’s hard to know that you can still talk with people but you won’t see them for 3 months. I was so so happy because on both my flights I got window seats! It’s so fun to see all the houses get smaller. It reminds me of this play rug that my neighbors (shout out to the James Gang) had that was kind of an aerial view of a neighborhood. I’m not too great at describing that so maybe only my neighbors will know what I’m talking about. Anyways, just imagine being on a plane. I loooove to be in the clouds. I always wish there was a way to touch them without falling out of the airplane to my death. On my flight to Frankfurt there was the most precious German boy sitting in front of me. Tiny and blonde and so stinkin adorable. There really is nothing cuter than children talking in another language. As we were about to land his parents asked him how he was doing or something along those lines. He replied “Hunky dory, we’re going to London”. Oh my word, sooo cute! I also experience the sunrise from above the clouds and it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed. All the beautiful colors without the blinding light! I know that everyone is interested in the food. For dinner I had some penne in kind of a pesto cream sauce. It was not as bad as I expected. However, I suspect (and hope) that this won’t be the most amazing pasta I eat for the next few months. I watched Dear John, hoping that I wouldn’t still be mad about the ending and the discrepancies between the book and the movie. I hoped in vein because I was still mad. However, lucky for the guy next to me and unlucky for Michelle, I did not tell him everything that was wrong. And so ends my 8 hour flight across the pond. {I really wanted to take pictures but got really self conscience about it. This won’t happen on land}
Ciao
